The Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards rolled out this past weekend amidst a blanket of fresh fallen Canadian SNOW! Hey it was the most snow they’ve had in Toronto in 75 years…but that didn’t stop the fans and the cats from having another sensational event. As always Alexander Zonjic was the hilarious host of the show with yours truly handling some extended hosting duties during the second half.

This years Lifetime Achievement award winner was Lee Ritenour with Peak Records titan Mark Wexler handling the acceptance of the award. The backstage shenanigans were in full effect and I had my video camera WITH ME!
You’ll be seeing exactly what happens backstage in my Cam Cam segments on My Jazz Network very soon. If you haven’t checked any of these out yet just go to www.myjazznetwork.com and click the Video On Demand section, then click Backstage and you’re ALL ACCESS.

I was a nominee for broadcaster of the year again this year…with Alexander Zonjic getting the hardware…OUCH!
Congratulations to AZ as we call him…DOOD…you EARNED it this year.
Some backstage highlights:
- Warren Hill’s new saxxy underwear.
- The beautiful and sensual singer/songwriter Janita…Slim Man was never too far away and most attentive, warm and friendly…hmm.
- Peter White in a NECK TIE and FORMAL SHOES…I saw it with my own eyes (see more at My Jazz network).
- Olivia Hill’s famous fund raiser…a personally crafted portrait for one dollar
- (tax deductible) all proceeds to feed the hungry.
- 94.7 The Wave hostess Vickie Van Dyke drinking while driving…her WHEELCHAIR.
- Doug and Mary Kirk (94.7 The Wave owners) pouring the wine and beer backstage…talk about hospitality!
- Alexander Zonjic’s Borat jokes…he looks JUST LIKE HIM and that’s no joke!
Congratulations to Mary and Doug Kirk and the entire team at 94.7 The Wave for a four year tradition of incredible talent and first class awards.
Bravo!
